Comedy About the Beautiful
Mess of Motherhood

Mom Said Duck is where exhausted moms become energized audiences, laughing at the chaos of motherhood through stand-up comedy, poetry, and brutally honest storytelling.

How a Pink Slip Became a Punchline

Hey, I’m Jill! I didn’t set out to become a comedian—I was pushed into it by a corporate layoff and the discovery of a rhyming book I wrote as a kid. What started as a creative outlet during one of the hardest seasons of my life became something I never expected: a voice for moms who are tired of being the entertainment and are ready to be entertained. My first poem, Ten Little Fingers, Ten Little Toes, opened the floodgates, and I haven’t stopped writing, performing, or making moms laugh since.

Today, Mom Said Duck is more than a brand—it’s a tribe. I’m proud to say I’ve sold out every live show I’ve performed, combining stand-up comedy, spoken-word poetry, and the kind of raw, relatable humour that makes moms feel seen, heard, and a little less alone in the chaos of motherhood. My mission is simple: give moms a night to laugh until they pee a little and connect over shared truths. It’s my hope that Mom Said Duck brings moms (and dads) together through the humility of laughter, reminding us that this wild thing called parenting can be as funny as it is trying. The Mom Said Duck journey is proof that sometimes the worst moments lead to the best punchlines.

Is This Show for You? (Spoiler: Duck Yeah, it is!)

This show is for the moms who do it all and still feel like they’re failing. It’s for the ones who’ve mastered the art of hiding in the pantry, who know that 10pm is the new midnight, and who are desperate for a night where they’re not in charge of anyone’s snacks, meltdowns, or bedtime routine. But it’s not just for moms—dads, grandmas, and anyone who loves a mom (or has ever been raised by one) will find themselves laughing just as hard. If you’ve ever felt exhausted, overwhelmed, or like you’re the only one faking it, this show is your permission slip to let it all out and laugh until you cry.

Read, Laugh, Relate, Repeat

What Makes This Show Different?

Laugh Until you Can't Breathe

You've been the punchline, the snack distributor, and the chaos coordinator for long enough. This is your night to be the audience while someone else brings the comedy. Expect belly laughs, relatable humor, and the kind of jokes that make you snort-laugh in the best way.

Feel Seen, Heard, and Less Alone

Every poem, every story, every punchline is rooted in the messy, beautiful, exhausting reality of motherhood. You'll leave knowing you're not the only one hiding in the bathroom for a second alone or treating 8pm like it's last call at the bar. This is your tribe, and they get it.

Home by 10pm
i.e "Mom Midnight"

No late nights, no babysitter guilt, no scrambling to stay awake past your bedtime. Jill knows moms have early mornings, so the show wraps up in time for you to get home, unwind, and still get a full night's sleep. You'll actually enjoy your night out instead of dreading the morning after.

A Night That's for YOU

For once, you're not planning it, hosting it, or cleaning up after it. Grab a drink from the cash bar, sit back, and let someone else do the entertaining. This is your permission slip to relax, connect, and remember what it feels like to just be you for a couple of hours.

2025 was a year of honing my craft—on the mic and on the stage—and taking my audiences along for a unique adventure.

I sold out two more live shows: one at Anchor Coffee House and another at the Capitol Theatre on their smaller stage (the Kelly Theatre).

Our family also flew to Miami, where I filmed an episode of a new TV show, Legacy Makers, now in its final stages of editing.

But no—this year wasn’t all puppy dogs and rainbows. After my second show, I hit a setback that knocked the wind out of me and forced me to dig deep to keep going. (I’ll save that story for another post.) But after I licked my wounds and cried the tears, I realized there were a million lessons packed into that setback.

Solopreneurship (yes, I made that word up) is hard. Mostly, it’s just hard. But every once in a while—like when I’m standing on stage, sharing poems and laughing with a room full of moms—it feels easy. And worth it.

Growing up, I watched my mom make people laugh everywhere she went. Oftentimes when folks were at their lowest in hospitals and nursing homes. No matter the circumstance, she could pull people out of their hardship, even briefly, with a good old fashioned chuckle. Often at her own expense. So long as she made them smile!

I’m not the Good Samaritan my mom is. I may not visit hospitals or nursing homes, but I do know a group of people who are in the trenches every single day: moms.

Entrepreneurs are constantly told that we must know our ‘why.’ And for a long time, I resisted calling “making moms (and dads) laugh” mine. But why can’t that be enough? It’s my favourite part. Creating space for silliness, rebellion, and laughter—feeling more normal, more connected to yourself, your kids, and each other through giggling about the chaos of motherhood—that is my why.

I’m heading into 2026 with less bravado than usual, but with more clarity, discipline, and hard-earned lessons.

Cheers to 2025—and bring on 2026! 🥂🎤🦆🥂

I always notice yard signs 🪧

For years I wanted one for Mom Said Duck but I couldn’t find a good reason to get one.

I googled it one day and realized they’re fairly cheap. And since I may never find a “good reason”, I hit BUY!

Two years ago me would have thought, “but what will they think?” Me now…I don’t really give a duck 😎

Do I have a random yard sign on my lawn? I do! Have I already been asked about it by strangers? I have! I’d say it’s working! 🪧😁

Gimme a beep-beep or a tag if you spot this baby on your travels! 👀🚗

ONE WEEK OUT! 🤩

Next Friday I will grace the stage of the Kelly House at the Capitol Theatre—and I’m feeling ALL the feels!

This 51% excitement and 49% nerves have become a familiar feeling before a show.

It brings me comfort to know that I’ve done this three other times, and that each event has been a success.

As is always the case, I’m trying to level up, this time with an awesome comedian @jenjokestoomuch to help kick off the laughs! Along with some tweaks to the show. And I’ll be honest, it’s the tweaks that are terrifying me! (The other three shows were a hit, so why change it?) I don’t know. Something tells me I have to. So I am. And trusting the universe, (and myself) is the reason I’m performing at the Capitol in the first place. ✨

I keep reminding myself that, at the end of the day, if we are all having fun it will be a success. Because moms deserve to have fun too, damnit! And to be entertained instead of being the entertainment. That is my ‘why’ — to give moms a good laugh and the sense of normalcy we all deserve.

Mothering young kids is a stage of life where we question our every move and doubt ourselves countlessly along the way.

So for one night only, I want moms to feel surrounded by those who “get” it and have a laugh at our kids’ expense 🤣 and our husbands too 🤣🤣

Thank you to those who have put their trust in me. Some of you for a 4th time 🥲 Next Friday will be special.

👀 a few people have messaged me so I had to go take a look for myself!

Tomorrow will be two weeks out from the big night, and seeing this is just what I needed! All of the imposter syndrome is rolling in rn 😅 but I’ve worked hard and deep down I know I’m ready. So, I’m trying to remind myself to just HAVE FUN! 🤩

Did you know?

Periodically throughout my shows, I toss rubber duckies into the crowd and whomever catches the duck wins the corresponding prize? 🐥 (Sounds silly but it’s super fun!)

As always, I can’t WAIT to highlight these—some of my favourite local businesses—live, on stage to a SOLD OUT crowd!

Some are old, some are new, but all are fabulous! Each business was hand-selected by me because they are AWESOME and help make Windsor special 💕

If you’ve been to a Mom Said Duck show in the past, you know there are always amazing giveaways just for coming out.

If you snagged a ticket, I’ll see you Mother Duckers on Friday, September 19th at the CAPITOL DUCKING THEATRE! 🤩 (Sorry, I’m still reeling about the venue!)

Less than 3 weeks out now! Eek! 🎤🦆

Frequently Asked Questions

What the Heck Even is Mom Said Duck?

Mom Said Duck is my live comedy show that blends stand-up, poetry, and brutally honest storytelling about motherhood. It’s a night where moms (and anyone who loves them) can laugh until their faces hurt, feel seen, and actually enjoy themselves without being in charge of snacks, bedtime, or anyone’s emotional regulation. Think of it as therapy, but funnier and with a cash bar.

Moms, first and foremost—especially the tired, overwhelmed, rebellious ones who are juggling it all and need a night to laugh about it all. But dads, grandmas, and anyone who’s ever been raised by a mom or loves one will find plenty to laugh about, too. If you’ve survived the chaos of family life, you’re my people!

Not quite. My humor is raw, honest, and occasionally involves some colourful language (you know, the kind autocorrect changes to “duck”). It’s best suited for adults—think 18+ or mature teens with their parents. It’s a night for grown-ups to let loose, not a family-friendly Disney affair.

Tickets are available through the venue hosting the show. Check out the Visit Mom Said Duck on Tour section on my website for upcoming dates and links to purchase. And trust me, shows sell out fast—so don’t wait until the last minute!

Absolutely! I perform at theatres, corporate events, fundraisers, private parties, and more. Just head over to the “Bookings Available” section, fill out the form with the details, and let’s chat about bringing the laughs to your next event!
