a best friend can also

Now that we've identified
The major need for a best friend
Let's discuss the day-to-day
And all those crazy odds and ends

Best friends have a free pass
To call you out on all your shit
But if someone else tries it
Then you have grounds to throw a fit

Best friends will laugh really hard
At each and every lame-ass joke
Others may find them boring
But different strokes for different folks

There are no offside topics
With a bestie, anything goes
Acting like total goofballs
Or pointing out a prude brown-nose

The smallest inconvenience
That throws off your entire day
Others say get over it
She's like Ugh! Are you okay?!

The other person's family
Basically becomes your own
Understanding each member
Thanks to hours on the phone

If our husbands realized
All of the things our besties know
May have kept things to themselves
About a million moons ago

The two of you share secrets
Need to be taken to the grave
She knows things that others don't
Like all those times you misbehaved

Somehow she still sticks around
Knowing all of your broken parts
If you're having a bad day
She may drop off raspberry tarts

Diamonds are a girl's best friend
Or at least that is what they say
But best friends are like diamonds
And I would choose her any day
