are you even a mom if

Are You even a mom if
You’ve not caught throw-up in your hands?
Or spent Sunday mornings cheering
As your Little’s biggest fan?

Are you even a mom if
You eat dinner while it’s hot?
Or thought that you were crushing life
'Til a birthday party, you forgot?

Are you even a mom if
You’re not pulled fifteen different ways?
Or had an unexpected poop
Cause a diaper change delay?

Are you even a mom if
Your kids have not tantrumed in a store?
Or acted mean and not themselves
And in your face, they’ve slammed a door?

Are you even a mom if
You’ve not wanted your child to be older?
Then, when they are, looked back and wished
Their head still rest atop your shoulder?

Being a mom to children means
We play the lead in our kids’ lives
We see the best, worst, and in-between
Big hugs, bad moods; all tides that rise

Remembering our own moms
And the role they played for us
"I get it now!" we often think
So much love, and sometimes a cuss!
