dad said duck
“Hey, you guys, how was your day?”
Mommy asks as she walks in
She had the whole day to herself
So ear to ear mom wears a grin
She notices that daddy
Has had a time himself
Taking off her shoes, she sees
One rascal climbing up a shelf
As mom grabs the little tyke
She hears another child crying
They didn’t get the yellow cup
But one would guess that they were dying
Dad reflects upon his day
Catching his breath, explains to mom
“I don’t think one thing got done”
About this, she has no qualms
“Welcome to my life!” she claps
“Do you think that I am lying?
When I say it is impossible
To get stuff done, although I’m trying?"
“I get it now!” dad shouts to mom
Stepping on a hockey puck
That's when the youngest tattles
“Mommy, daddy just said duck!”
