housework makes you ugly

Housework makes you ugly
At least that is what they say
It seems that they are right again
A fool-proof way to add some greys

Large furniture needs lifting
Rolling up and shaking rugs
Dusting causes sneezing
While sweeping uncovers dead bugs

Handwashing grimy surfaces
Lackluster motion, to and fro
Inhaling nasty chemicals
Soon mom’s sweat begins to glow

Vacuum carried up the stairs
Inactive muscles become sore
Kids yell that they are starving
Snack Bitch forgot about that chore

Mom decides to make the day
One set aside for laundry too
Changing sheets and making beds
Always so much for her to do

Constant trekking through the house
Can see the kitchen’s still a mess
But once the dishes have been washed
The homestead looks hot off the press

Eventually a fatigued mom
Plops herself onto the couch
And since the sun rose up that day
Becomes a worthy sluggish slouch

Both feet propped up, head titled back
She groans at housemates passing by
”You even dare to make a mess,
I will hang you out to dry!”
