‘you're ok!’
There is a straightforward phrase
All honest parents overuse
That simple phrase is ‘you’re OK!’
Referring to a bump or bruise
Kids are rough and clumsy
Let’s be honest, dramatic too
Won’t listen to mom when she says stop
They fake some injuries and sing the blues
So, nine times out of ten
Any parent in their right mind
Will half-ass their concern
A ‘you're OK!’ will do just fine
Tripping up the stairs to bed
Sibling pushed them out of the way
One tot gets heck from mom
While the other a ‘you’re OK!’
Kids make some funny choices
So what do they expect?
Sliding down on their belly means
They will give the ground a peck
A scraped knee may need a hug
And a bandage to save face
With 'you’re OK!’ on repeat
As usual, mom is on the case
It’s ‘you’re OK!' when they are mad
Splashed poolside, unprovoked
A slip and fall? ‘You’re OK!’
Until they scream, “I think it’s broke!” 😳
